Animal form:

    Name:
    Kou Ayashi

    Age:
    17

    Gender:
    Male

    Species:
Inu (or Werewolf, if you prefer)

    Personality:
Loud, reckless and short-tempered, Kou returns violence with violence and kindness with...just a little less violence. It is, however, just as easy to please him as it is to anger him--He trusts people easily and his loyalty is whole-hearted, such that he is easily protective of people he comes to like and rather obedient when he's not angry. Note that his favorite past-time is chasing cats.

    History (Optional):
Kou's family has served the Fujihara bounty-hunters for as long as they can remember, in exchange that the Ayashi family gets food, lodging and protection from any enemies or other hunters. So while Kou seems to be eternally annoyed with Hisui, they are close childhood friends and now, partners.

    Name:
    Hisui Fujihara

    Age:
    15

    Gender:
    Female

    Species:
    Human (bounty hunter)

    Personality:
Hisui seems soft-spoken and kind, but is surprisingly bossy and childish--she can almost never admit to a loss or a mistake, and can become almost obsessively determined to get what she wants. While she thinks fighting is a whole lot of fun, she dislikes having to actually kill or capture anything. In fact, she thinks the creatures she's supposed to kill are really cool, and would love to spend more time with them whenever she is not assigned to annihilate them. Because of such sentiments, Hisui often struggles with her identity of being a bounty hunter.

    History (Optional):
Grew up as childhood friends with Kou, and has trained all her life as a bounty-hunter. Since she often fails to kill or capture quarry, she is looked down upon by her family and the other bounty hunters. Her parents however, continue giving her assignments, in hopes that she will step up to being a better bounty hunter.

    Name: Alexander
    Age: 15
Description: Dirty blonde hair coupled with baby-blue eyes and a perpetual scowl. Alex has an athletic build due to his learning fencing, but is a bit on the short side.

History: He had his ability from young and was often made fun of by others for having the ability; because of this, he rather dislikes his ability.
    Power: Future-telling
    Side: Neutral
    Nicknames: Alex?
Other: Also, a note on the future-telling ability--since the future is inconsistent, it may change even after Alexander has seen it due to various interfering factors.

Alexander was trudging through the woods, huffing irritably as he pushed through the vegetation. Because he avoided most interaction with the people at school, his parents had thought it to be a good idea to bring him to visit at the orphanage they worked at as cooks in an attempt to widen his social circle--how that made sense at all, Alex had no idea. What was he going to do there anyway? Babysit?

Which brought him to his current predicament--scouring the woods nearby, searching for two girls found missing from the orphanage. It wasn't even his fault, but his parents just had to volunteer their dear little son for the job. He had expected it, since he did catch a vision earlier that morning of himself searching the woods, but it was still a pain in the arse. "Hey, come out already, Kitty! Kiora!" Alexander called out, startling a fawn nearby.

Hisui returned to their home hands full with bags of groceries. As expected, most of the house was dark and quiet--her parents were often out on assignments, and her home-tutor had already left after her lesson. The only room which had any signs of life at all was Hisui's; the door hung ajar, shedding light and the monotone of a reporter on television. Hisui smiled, and placed the groceries in the kitchen before creeping to her room. Sprawled on the ground before the little television set, Kou scowled, wolf-like ears flattened and bushy tail puffing up. "Hisui, something smells fishy about this. I'm sure of it."

Immediately, Hisui huffed in disappointment. "I was trying to sneak up on you idiot. Anyway, if anything's smelling fishy now, it's the laundry. Wash it, Kou."

"Spoilt little brat..." Kou snarled, even while he grudgingly headed out of Hisui's room towards the laundry basket. "But, really." While Hisui idly switched channels on the television, Kou raised his voice so that she could hear him from where she was. "From the look of things, the police are chasing their own tails. People just disappearing without a trace like that...and all men? I'm guessing it's not human. I'm guessing succubus. Or siren."

At that, Hisui couldn't help but grin. "Or it could be a vampire, or a ghoul. Or a really bored old woman. Either way, I hope we get to meet them soon--as long as mom and dad don't turn this into another stupid assignment again."

Alexander scowled when he heard a voice call back, and gave chase towards the sound of footsteps and rustling vegetation. There! Alex caught a glimpse of a pale lithe figure with grey hair a little ways beyond him. "Don't run away, ya' little--" he skidded to an abrupt stop as a few branches fell right in front of him. When he looked up, the girl was gone. Alexander cursed loudly, almost hoping the girl would hear. Did the branches actually fly into his path, or was it just his imagination? They could've fallen from the tree above, but still...

Well, two can play at that game. Alexander leaned back into a tree, closed his eyes and slowed his breathing. When he opened his eyes, images flew by in a rush. Alexander couldn't catch sight of most of them, and while he tried to focus on the image of the girl he saw earlier, all he saw was the image of another girl in a cave. And a few glimpses of a male brunet in a black cloak, but he'd think about that later. With a blink, the images were gone. Alex huffed in annoyance. Using his ability tended to make him dizzy for a while, just one of the things he hated about it. Oh well, might as well go after the other girl. Alexander assessed his surroundings, before making his way towards what looked like the area around the cave in his vision. Since calling out their names didn't work, Alex tread lightly, hoping to catch the girl by surprise instead.

As the surface of a wall of rock came into view, Alexander figured it was a portion of the cave, either the side or back of it. There was some rustling among the bushes, but he couldn't be sure whether it was animal or human...Alexander startled a little as a fox came into his path. As soon as he caught sight of it, a rush of images flew past his eyes again. Alexander frowned. Most of the time, his future-sight was activated only when he specifically summoned for it. When it came up on its own, it usually meant there was a change in the future he already saw before. In his vision, he saw that the girl in the cave wasn't hiding anymore. Apparently, she would manage to escape and find another hiding place in the woods, but the images were moving too fast for Alex to make out where she planned to go to next.

No way was he letting her go that easily. Alexander rounded the fox, confused when it continued to try blocking his path, but shrugged it off anyway. "Why the hell do you all keep running away!" Alex cried out in frustration as he raced to the mouth of the cave.

Alexander took a moment to gape like an idiot as the falling girl landed safely on to the ground. Her decent was slowed, right before his eyes. Impossible--the change in speed was to quick to be natural. The rustle of bushes brought Alex's attention to that lithe, grey-haired girl from earlier. "Don't you dare run again. I have to get you girls back, and I'd prefer both of you to return intact." Alex practically bristled. He considered catching her first, but changed his mind and approached the girl on the ground. "This is why you should always listen to Alex--don't run, now. Ok, you hurt anywhere? Sprained anything? Don't run. And which one are you, Kitty or Kiora?" Alex rattled on in a clipped, curt voice while he assessed her for injuries.

    OOC:
    Thanks!

    IC:
"You almost had it, too." Alson chirped. Wilson shot his sibling a glare, before dismounting to tie his horse to a nearby tree. The two had stopped their horses short of the woods as the vegetation was too thick and the road too rough to expect their mounts to continue without stumbling. "Little brother is far too kind to mere beasts." Alson had remarked, when Wilson insisted they continue their search on foot.

"It'll troublesome if the horses end up lame." Wilson shrugged it off. He checked that his own shotgun was ready with bullets, before slinging his pack over his shoulders--in which contained their supplies, as well as lassos and nets.

Alson cheerily admonished him, "Silly little brother. It won't be trouble at all. If they do end up lame, we'll just shoot them."

After ensuring his crossbow was working and that his quiver was well stocked with arrows, the blonde pointed out the tracks in the wet earth of the forest floor, as well as torn vegetation here and there. As the two began to pursue the shifter's trail, Wilson felt the need to remind his older brother--again--that they needed the shifter alive, or they wouldn't get the bounty.

Kou sat by Hisui's bedside, tail lashing restlessly as he waited for Hisui to fall asleep. It was a habit of his to do so--to wait by Hisui's bed till she fall asleep--but that didn't mean he got any less impatient over it. When Hisui's breathing finally deepened and the girl had peacefully nodded off, Kou exited the house. Outside, Kou discretely hid behind some shrubs and shifted to his canine form.

Often he heard of werewolves who described shifting as a pretty painful experience, what with bones changing shape and all--sucks to be them. While inu and werewolves were pretty close cousins, there were differences. The obvious one was that inu retained canine ears and tail in human form form while werewolves didn't. But also when inu shift to their canine-form, they did so with, literally, a puff of smoke.

The large brown canine immediately loped off, hard and fast, enjoying the wind in his fur and the smell of grass and vehicle exhaust washing over him. The sounds seemed to engulf him, from chirping crickets and hushed voices to the dampened buzz of nightlife. His own house was just beside Hisui's, and he was allowed to stay in Hisui's home if he wanted. But often, things grew too familiar. Things grew kinda boring. At times like that, Kou liked to run around in the middle of the night, get a little lost, go crazy barking and howling and maybe cause a little trouble--just to feel a little more wild.

With harsh baying cries, the inu barreled through bushes, ending up in the city park. As he was about to run crashing into something else, something caught his attention. Eh, a girl? At the park in the middle of the night? The canine's ears twitched and angled forward in curiosity. She seemed rather comfortable doing that, what with the book, star-gazing and all. Kou felt the sudden urge to see her freak out. Yeah, let's see how much it would take to scare this girl. The inu silently approached her and nosed at the book beside her. Kou's canine form was wolf-like and bigger than even Great Danes--he knew from experience that his appearance alone was enough to daunt most people. He looked up at the girl and let his jaw hang open, revealing rows of dagger-like teeth.

Kou would have smiled, if canines could actually smile. Instead, his tail swished in slow, pleased arcs. He scared not one, but two people. Bonus obtained. But wait, something smelt familiar. The inu turned to the blonde girl and sniffed, attention diverted from the star-gazing girl with the book. The faint salty tang of the sea washed over his senses. Kou remembered the last time he caught a similar scent, and growled at the memory of seeing a siren drown someone, a few assignments ago.

Damn those creatures, going around killing people on a whim. The inu began to pace around the blonde, eyes glinting as he appraised her. And what did she think she was doing, waving that branch at him like that? Did the siren think she could intimidate him with a stick? Kou was practically thrumming from the rising adrenaline, ears flattened, hackles raised and teeth bared in a snarl. He leaned back, muscles bunching beneath him. Hell, the nerve she had, underestimating him.

The next instant, the canine sprang at her, attempting to pin the siren down.

"Alson?" Wilson called to his older brother as they began following the tracks about the forest.

The blonde turned to his sibling with an amused gaze, merely nodding when the brunet pointed backwards with a thumb, towards the right. "I know, dear brother. Another bounty hunter is near. Shall we rid ourselves of the competition? Arrow through the head, hmm?" Alson raised his crossbow and mocked a shooting motion with a chuckle.

He quickly ducked when Wilson tried to smack him upside the head. "You know what I'm thinking. We can band together. It'll be easier to surround the shifter if we have three people."

"Hmm, a clever idea, little brother," Alson mused aloud, "Then after we capture the shifter, we can just kill that other hunter. So we needn't split the profit."

Wilson facepalmed with a sigh, but waved in the direction of the other bounty hunter anyway, by way of invitation to hunt together.

"Ah, not one for words?" Alson chuckled, and swiftly strode over to the other male. He smiled brightly as he offered a handshake. "My name is Alson--that pretty boy there is my younger brother, Wilson. We see that you are quite the fearsome hunter--"

Wilson shoved the blonde out of the way with a cough. "Basically, you're after the shifter too, right? We can go after it together. Split the profit, or something."

Alson's smile was almost fox-like. "Likewise, comrade. Likewise. Well then, off we go on our happy little trio." The blonde strode ahead to follow the tracks, occasionally pointing them out here and there for the other two. He explained things in a slow gentle drawl, almost like how one spoke down to a little child.

Wilson grimaced apologetically to Ion, but made no other comment.

Wilson nodded with a weary smirk. "He's always like that, but it's just his way of...trying to be friendly, however misguided his intentions are."

While Alson hadn't heard Ion's question to Wilson, the brunet hadn't lowered his voice enough when he replied. Alson barely heard Wilson, but cheerily butted in. "Why, little brother is being kind again, defending your older sibling like that."--Alson paused to duck another smack from Wilson--"But what about you, fearsome hunter Ion?"

Alson gazed at the other male, eyes half lidded as he lazily appraised him. "I can be a rather cruel person, Ion. But be nice to us, and we'll all stand to gain, alright?" He only laughed when this time, Wilson managed to smack him.

    OOC: Okies

IC: The point where Alexander was lifted into the air and into a tree? Yeah, that was the point where he started freaking out. "What, the hell are you doing?" There was sinking feeling in between where Alex hung in the air, and where he was plopped onto the tree. He was suddenly grateful he hadn't had a very large meal before all this.

"And what do you mean who's Kiora, who's Kitty? Those are your names, aren't they? They showed me your photos, so don't think you can go tricking me, " Alexander huffed, even as he clung onto the tree for his dear life. The branch he was sitting on felt as if it would break under his weight any minute. Even so, he steeled his face into a mask of irritation.

"If it'd make you guys come back with me, my name's Alex. My parents work as happy little cooks in your happy little orphanage--and somehow they got me to help find two missing girls who disappeared into the forest. Sound like anybody you know?" Alex snapped. He began to survey the tree he was on, wondering if he should jump or climb down. Upon hearing what Kitty said, Alex raised a brow. "Hear who?"

Wilson was the first to react, awkwardly patting the other man's shoulder. Softly and soothingly, the brunet murmured words of comfort and empty promises.

Alson held Ion's gaze for a full minute, almost searchingly. The smirk he gave afterwards was bitter, unlike those many other false smiles. "My condolences then, fearsome hunter Ion. If it would make you warm up to us, so to speak, then I would have you know I care for Wilson as much as you care for your siblings. But while you failed to keep them alive, I'd like to let my little brother keep his pretty little head."

Wilson looked up at Alson, confused. The blonde gave another false smile. "Now wipe your tears and let's get on with this, hmm?" Alson strode ahead, leaving Wilson to gaze after him.

"He's hiding something..." Wilson muttered, "Anyway, we'll need your expertise, Ion, since you actually work as a bounty hunter. Alson insisted we hunt the shifter on a whim, really. In fact, this is our first. Usually we work as farmhands-on-hire, although we have learnt hunting from our father before." The brunet rubbed the back of his neck in slight embarrassment.

Upon hearing both Kitty and Kiora talk about their lives in the orphanage, Alexander held his scowl in a show of indifference, but he understood in a way. "Look, you can just run away again later. I don't care. Just come back with me first--I see a telling-off coming my way if I go back empty-handed. Hey--"

Alex stopped short when Kiora lifted him off the tree and onto the ground. He let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. Then another girl appeared and Kiora disappeared up a tree. Alexander growled and kicked a tree, cursing like never before--he was tired of chasing people, dammit! He was about to answer the new girl's (Lin) question, but resorted to grumbling in agreement when Kitty replied in his stead.

Alex bit back a snappy remark when Kitty climbed up a tree as well, and proceeded to lean against the tree to take a break. "Watch it!" he hissed when a nut bonked him on the head. He turned to the new girl. "So who're you? Another runaway from the dang orphanage?"

Wilson gazed at Ion's knife like a child looking at a new trinket. "Sweet," the brunet murmured. He had unknowingly brought a hand toward the knife, but stopped himself short.

Alson shot a cautious look at Ion's knife, but chuckled upon seeing Wilson's delighted expression, and turned again to the tracks. Hmm...the cheetah tracks had ended at a cave. There were one or two human footprints as well, but other than that, nothing. "Either it shifted into something small and light enough not to make tracks...or something that flies," Alson mused aloud. He turned around, looking into the air. Wilson did so as well, but there were birds of all kinds in the forest. Raptors, songbirds, crows...

"Ah, how nice of you to appreciate the class of a crossbow, little lady," Alson chirped, smoothly stepping forward and in front of Wilson upon noticing the girl pointing her weapon at them. He raised his own crossbow at her, a slightly smaller model, but the blonde seemed to pay no heed. Wilson fumbled to pump his shotgun and tuck the butt of the gun into his shoulder, taking aim as well.

"So what brings a lovely girl like you into this neck of the woods, hmm?" Alson might as well have been sipping tea and talking about the weather.

It was then when the two heard another girl's voice, delighted and taunting. The shifter. There was no time to think, only to act. Wilson kept his shotgun trained at the girl with the crossbow, and nodded toward his older brother. Alson swiftly turned to the shifter, now a small bird, and smoothly pulled the trigger on his crossbow.
